sad Banner Saga update: that made up fantasy word definitely means “next of kin” and/or “successor”
I finally got everything done for tomorrow *rolls over*
there’s a section in Moll Flanders where Moll is falsely accused of theft and it results in a literal “mercer fray”

I need to stop procrastinating my school writing so much
The photos and information coming out of Ferguson, MO this evening are shocking.
SWAT teams clearing out fast food restaurants, journalists arrested, full-scale police-as-military response to non-violent protest.
And yet perhaps the most amazing thing is that there seem not to be any elected officials willing to tell this police force to stand down.
There have been elected officials protesting with the people of Ferguson and have been gassed and abused alongside those they represent. However, there must come a point for the governor and/or the DOJ to step in. This must be the end game for police militarization.
this game is not helping my unyielding desire to make characters with horns. I don’t know why this is such an appealing design choice for me
Crap, you’re making me want to try it now.
tl;dr, this thing pulled me out of my Sims frenzy
if you know the Sims, you hear what I’m saying here
omg is it that good???
It is SO GOOD. You’ve given me a chance to talk about something I enjoy. I hope you were prepared.
I was honestly not sure if I’d like it, because it’s basically hardcore Oregon Trail set in like 15th Century Fantasy Scandinavia, but holy crap I can’t wait to get back to playing it. It’s one of those games where your choices ACTUALLY have dire consequences, instead of pretending to. You have supplies, troops, and a huge distance that those things have to last. You have to balance morale against losing time and wasting resources. As far as I can tell, there are no game overs. Which is something I love in games, it’s helps my immersion a lot when I can fuck up without being booted to the title screen. (shout out to Transistor)
I just found out that the indie developer that made it it, Stoic, is actually made up of three former Bioware employees. So that explains the compelling writing, worldbuilding, and characters I am already invested in. Also the gut-wrenching moral choices. It’s hand-drawn 2D animation modeled after early Disney and Don Bluth’s work (I haven’t spotted his boyfriend but I’ll keep you posted). The guy who did the score was the one who did the music for Journey and Malukah is one of the soloists. I can’t believe how great it looks and feels.
I sound like an infomercial, sorry.
Gonna do a readmore for anyone who wants more of my (long-winded but spoiler-free!) opinions about gameplay and etc.
